On 11 March 1930,
a group of geophysicists met for lunch in downtown Houston to organize
the Society of Economic Geophysicists, which later
became the Society of Exploration Geophysicists.
To commemorate the anniversary of this historic occasion, SEG undertook a series of celebrations which culminated in the
wildly successful SEG International Exposition and 75th Annual Meeting on 6–11 November
2005.

Reflections in the Field: Commemorating the 75th Anniversary of SEG
This feature-length documentary, created especially for the anniversary, chronicles the evolution of applied geophysics from its early days in the fields of Europe and the United States to its technologically diverse worldwide practice today. This video also tells the story of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists and its work to foster geophysical theory, application, education, and professionalism in the field.
