The Society of
Exploration Geophysicists first met on March 11th, 1930 in downtown
Houston, and a luncheon today at the Houston Club commemorates
those beginnings. In 1930, the group was known as the Society of
Economic Geophysicists. Craig Beasley is president of today's Society
of Exploration Geophysicists.

The Society of Exploration Geophysicists promotes the expert and
ethical practice of geophysics in the exploration and development
of natural resources, in characterizing the near surface and in
mitigating earth hazards.
